Body Shaming - a hidden issue in our society. Body shaming is when somebody makes us feel lesser than what we are in reality and when we are forced to get out of our comfort zone. It comes from every part be it our friends, relatives, family and even be it our own-self.
Many people do not want to come up to the spotlight and suppress themselves because of the fear which survives in their mind of getting criticized and judged.
The biggest question which arises is "Does our body shape, size and complexion really define our true sense? Are we a victim of this hideous issue?“ The answer to these thoughts can be concluded through the consequences and situations which each one of us faces every day more probably every moment.
We are never alone. We are always watched by at least a single person. We are questioned, imposed and our decisions are not our decisons any more and more probably our body isn't our body anymore. We read magazines and see a particular standard of stereotypes of beauty that is a sort of defined by society. We are so badly influenced that for us these stereotypes decide the description of an individual. If a person is fat, we are pre-knowledged to describe that person to be a lazy over-eater. But do we realize that there are other possibilities for him to be in such a situation? people are now converting themselves into plastic for just to adjust themselves to these stereotypes and get accepted by society and we are not realizing that taking chemical treatments and peeling can deteriorate our life to worse There are a lot of legal cases where people committed crimes and suicide based on these criticisms.
Body shaming kills one's self-confidence and one starts doubting and suppressing themselves from the shine he can add to the world. These consequences clearly show that Body shaming is definitely making us a victim of it and hence our color, shape, and complexion describe us in this society and not our intelligence and our nature or our character. If a girl wears traditional outfits it is stereotyped in most of the people that she comes from a decent and dignified family but what if a girl goes western? do the same thoughts of tradition and dignity comes into our mind?
we are now the victims of this dangerous disease of body shaming. We criticize and get criticized by people almost every day but we never understand how soul-crushing would it be for a person on the opposite side who is being criticized. Movies are made on this emotional abuse but still, people mark it unnoticed as we feel it is a very small issue to be taken up but the reality is this issue which seems to be small can turn out to be a big blaster in our lives. We are being judged on our looks which drags us out of our comfort zone. We now hardly realize that its 2020 and like for every microsecond there is a child who died due to malnourishment and we here are making ourselves starve just because we want to fit in some other's shoes.
Social influencers tell their stories which do make us feel moved but the confidence of accepting ourselves can come only from within us. We should stop losing our confidence just because the person in front of you has judged and criticized you because at the end of the day it is your aura, your personality and your nature which matters the most. We are now diving in the stream of perfection be it our body or our looks or our work or so. But we forget that the journey to the word perfect is never-ending. Hence it is never to late to come out of this victimized society of body shaming provided one has the ability to believe in themselves and stop putting oneself in other's shoes rather find their own shoe.
